Grigory Leps also translated as Grigorii Leps (Russian: Григо́рий Ви́кторович Лепс) a Russian singer-songwriter. Created a unique style mixing beetwen rock music, pop music, and in his early career shanson. Known for his low strength voice with long-range vocals. Grigory Leps was born as Grigory Lepsovidze to a Georgian father and a Russian mother in the city of Sochi. He finished a music school in the class of Percussion instrument. After the army he started to play and sing in few rock bands, and worked as a singer in restaurants. He suffered from alcoholism and drug addiction, and to get far from that life he went to Moscow. There to he started singing in resturans, until he received a record deal, and in 1995 he released the album May god keep you (Hrani was bog). The song Natali became a huge hit, but he didn’t know that because he was hispitalized for drugs and alcoholism. The doctors told him one more drop of any of them can kill him completely. In 1997 he released his second album, Целая жизнь (A whole life), which to had few hits including Целая жизнь, Качок, Чижик, Гололед. In 2000 he releaseed the album Спасибо, люди (Thank you people), with the major hits Шелест and Крыса. At that album was seen the change in Leps’s style, with him completely leaving the Shanson and moving to rock music. That year he met Anya, a dancer in the Laima Vaikule (Лайма Вайкуле) balett who became his wife. At the same time he lost his voice, and went thru an operation. In 2002 he released the album На струнах дождя (On strings of rain), with a major hit Рюмка водки на столе. In 2004 he released a cover album of songs written by Vladimir Vysotsky (Владимир Высоцкий) in rock versions, Парус. The song Парус had a video clip and the album took top places at the selling charts. In 2005 he released a compilation album called Избранное…10 лет. In 2006 he released two albums, both reaching high succes. Лабиринт (Labirint), with the hits Лабиринт and Вьюга, and the album В центре Земли, with the hit [track artist=Григорий Лепс]Замерзает солнце. The premier concert for the В центре Земли album took place in the Luzhniki Stadium. In 2007 he released two compilations. Я — живой! (I’m alive) , and Вся жизнь моя — дорога… (All my life - a road)
