«Oranžās Brīvdienas» - biography, albums, songs, video clips

The Latvian turbo folk band Oranžās Brīvdienas formed in March, 2000. It happened in small village Kuldīga, Latvia in Eastern part of area.

The leader of Oranžās Brīvdienas - Speiss (Ints Ķergalvis - acoustic rhythm guitar and lead vocals) made it together with few friends. At that time Oranžās Brīvdienas was playing indie rock. After few gigs bands participants started to change.

Speiss made new formation in capital of Latvia Rīga. There he met his best friend and ideological partner Kundziņš (Māris Vaivods - bass guitar, back vocals). At that time band played acoustic folk rock with Speiss singing his bard songs. Band had concerts in Latvia, Germany, Netherlands and France.

In year 2005 the band became in it’s this time vision - playing Latvian turbo folk. Latvian turbo folk means playing ska, reggae, metal, rock, disco and other styles mixed with some folk elements.

In last four years to Speiss and Kundziņš joined all band’s current lineup.

Band has played almost in all music clubs and festivals in Latvia. In year 2005 band had five concerts in Ukraine and Romania. In March and April 2009 to celebrate band’s 9th anniversary they went on Balkan tour with shows in Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Bulgaria and Macedonia.

Oranžās Brīvdienas concerts usually are full of positive, powerful and screaming energy. Band has recorded their debut album Everybody Tantsevat in spring of 2009.

Kaspars Čakste - mandolin, percussion, tambourine, back vocals;

Ritvars Silkovs - saxophone;

Māris Vaivods - bass guitar, back vocals;

Jānis Kaličus - trombone, back vocals;

Maksims Starodubovs - trombone;

Pēteris Birzgalis - sound effects;

Māris Vaivods - bass guitar, back vocals;

Jānis Puzaks - drums.
