«Mads Arp» - biografía, álbumes, canciones, videoclips

Miromusic is an electronic music partnership of Mads Arp and Steen Thottrup of Denmark.

The early years — 1990

Miro was founded in Farum, Denmark in 1990 by Steen Thottrup and Mads Arp. In August 1991, they released their first record a double A-side Energy / Mystery on Coma Records.

Energy made the dance charts in Denmark with its hard techno sounds and shouting by Steen. Mystery made its run in Europe and appeared in a lot of dance charts in Frankfurt and Benelux, at DJ Miss Moneypenny's chart at number 1. It was licensed to the Music Man label for Benelux.

Their first gig was at the first "real" rave in Denmark, Subwave. 1500 people cramped into a warehouse on the harbour front in Copenhagen. They both moved to London and met up with the producer team behind one of 1992's biggest dance anthems, Gat Decor. Simon Hanson and Laurence Nelson heard the Pure Silk demo record and just two weeks later the first promotional discs were distributed with a flip-side (B side) called El Salvador. Pete Tong played it on his Essential Selection show on BBC Radio 1 and the week after he made the record his "Essential New Tune". Additionally, Pure Silk entered the UK Buzz chart and Cool Cuts Dance charts. Some Dance Charts listings had the song at number 1. It later peaked at number 78 in the official UK music chart and made it to number 17 in the official Dance chart.

Next followed the release of Celebrate with a feature from the English singer, Eddy, later signed to the Positiva label. That led to a live pa at the Ministry of Sound at their Friday club, "Open all Hours". Miro made a new track as intro, and because the whole place went completely mad, this track was then released with the title Spaceman. It turned out later to be one of the top three dance classics in the Benelux ever, and was re-released in 1998 and again in 2002. Then came a double A-side named Orient Express / Metropolis which was released on a sub label to Effective called Paige Pressing, named after Simon's daughter. After that a re-release of Pure Silk was ready to be put out, promos ready, then disaster happened — Effective Records went bankrupt!

Emotions of Paradise was released on Café del Mar Volume 3, compiled by the legendary Ibiza based ambient DJ José Padilla. The track has later been voted the fifth-best ambient track ever by Café del Mar resident, DJ Bruno Lepetre, and has been licensed to more than 30 ambient albums around the world, including Lunar Sunset, Greece / Ibiza Balearic Moods, Japan / Karma Lounge, UK and Les Bains Douches by Claude Challe, France.

Spaceman was licensed to Dance Opera, Benelux, in 1996 and released for a second time to great applause, followed by the release of Orient Express, also on Dance Opera.

Miro signed with Red Jerry and Hooj Choons, London and teamed up with singer Julie Harrington and songwriter partner Gary Butcher. They were brought together by mutual publishing company, Notting Hill Music. Together they made the song, Paradise which was released on Hooj Choons in May 1998. This song was licensed to a host of dance compilations, including Paul Oakenfolds: Global Underground 007, and the Renaissance club compilation, with two mixes mixed together.

This was followed by a remix of Greece 2000, Three Drives, where Miro added vocals to the original, and made the 7-inch radio mix, which peaked at No. 12 in the official UK Top 40 chart.

By Your Side was originally promoted under the name of MO — By your side. This original mix was No 1 on Paul Oakenfolds HOME chart, and Seb Fontaine licensed the track to his Global Underground compilation. By your side was finally released in 2002 almost three years after the first white labels with mixes from Markus Schulz and Ian Wilkie.

During this period they began recording under the name of Colours. First release was "The Guitar Track" which became an Ibiza favourite in the summer 2001. It came with a remix from Silicone Soul.

Under the name of Orange they have appeared on Cafe del Mar Dreams Volume 2 with Stay Asleep and with the progressive track Remember Me on Brother Brown Records.

In 2002 Miro made a chill out remix for Virgin Records of Tiësto's Battleship Grey featuring Kirsty Hawkshaw (OPUSIII). In 2003 came the release of The one I run to on Skyline records, and an appearance on Cafe del Mar Volume 9 with the track The Cure. The Cure has since been on Ultra Records Ultra Chilled 4.

In 2004 By Your Side was signed to Euphonic Records and released again. This time with mixes from Ronski Speed and Sonorous. They also release Holding On which appeared on Cafe del Mar Volume 11.

In 2005 they released Freeze the Moment on Greyhound Records in Belgium, featuring Anita Kelsey.

In 2006 Miro released Live it Now on the Okyo label. They also record under the names of Colours where they had big success in 2001 with The Guitar Track, which has appeared on more than 50 compilations around the world. This track was very successfully remixed by Silicone Soul and released as a 12-inch vinyl LP in UK on Skyline Records, Milk and Sugar in Germany and Vendetta in Spain. Other Colours releases are Another One + Sunrise.
