Hello, I would like to talk about the common NEGATIVE statement I was told from a youth. Once some of the people around me saw that I was in the obsession stage of learning about Africa and Africans from different regions and I was immediately reprimanded. People told me all the bad about African and Caribbean men. I heard nothing but crazy relationship stories and how all of them are cheaters and scammers. I ignored these folks and when I ended a few relationships with African men, I heard the same thing over again.
I consider this mindset a bad misconception! It's biased. First off, a man is a man no matter where he comes from. The difference between African men and American men is that you have more layers (language, understanding the tradition, his beliefs concerning multiple wives) to pull down to get to the core and motives of the guy. There are scammers in every country and city. I was scammed by a white American guy when I was 14 and I went through it again with a black American man when I was 24 years old.
