Portugal Raízes Musicais was a six CD compilation of field recordings made by José Alberto Sardinha and produced by João Frederico Ludovice and Elsa Veloso. This valuable work of musical, historical and anthropological research was edited by BMG Classics in 1996 and distributed by the portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias. The six albums came on a paper box and were divided by regions: vol. 1 Minho and Douro Litoral; vol. 2 Trás-os-Montes; vol. 3 Beira Litoral and Beira Alta; vol. 4 Beira Baixa and Beira Transmontana; vol. 5 Estremadura, Ribatejo and Alentejo; vol. 6. Algarve and Ilhas.
