Johan Hank Toet was born and raised in The Hague, The Netherlands. Early influences range from Joy Division to Grand Master Flash. A multi-instrumentalist JHT’s main style is Electro based.
He started making music at age 12 on his commodore Amiga using various fast tracker incarnations.
Currently he’s using a mac laptop / guitar / bass and a crap load of plug-ins.
JHT releases music under the names: Johan Hank Toet, I.AM.CONSUMER and on occasion together with Jeremy Laird-Koch as Fruitvale. JHT doesn’t believe in copyright and many of his music has been released on the web for free and is available on his website: www.iamconsumer.com
Johan Hank Toet is starting work on a new project entitled ‘Dead by Cop’ an EP with songs about creatively committing suicide with the help of the police.
JHT resides in Los Angeles.
