263 - Michigan: Pressing the Issue

Brett Griffin, T.J. Majors and Freddie Kraft return to break down the weekend at Michigan International Speedway. The spotters discuss their difficulties leaving the Michigan infield after the race, debate whether or not the Cup cars had enough tire wear, and explain how long they think Kurt Busch should sit out. Plus, hear the latest on Kyle Busch’s options for 2023.
First up in Spot On, Spot off, J.J. Yeley's decision to stay out after the competition caution that led to a restart wreck in Turn 2 creates an uproar amongst the spotters. They question the motive for not pitting and why the same team often finds themselves in the middle of the story.
Next, Christopher Bell got into the wall off Turn 4 after making contact with Ross Chastain. The guys talk about which driver is at fault, why that caution cost one team any opportunityĀ at a strong finish, and who needs to have more situational awareness.
The table then discusses Bubba Wallace’s comments on Joey Logano’s move to hold onto to second deep into the final green flag run. Freddie talks about what it was like racing around Logano and why he’s the hardest driver to pass in the series. You won’t believe the tactic that Freddie used to distract another spotter. Plus, they react to Daniel Suarez’s blown tire that didn’t cause a late race yellow flag.
Freddie then comments on Wallace saying he failed after finishing P2. He applauds the team’s strong weekend and explains what Sunday said about Wallace’s potential. Brett discusses Wallace’s high-pressure situation and why he can’t make continue to beat himself up during post-race interviews.
Ryan Blaney currently sits on the playoff cutoff line and Martin Truex Jr. is the first driver out with three regular season races remaining. The gang explains what each driver has to do to clinch the last playoff spot before or at the cutoff race in Daytona. Also, Brett shares why he believes 23XI Racing is the modern-day DEI.
Finally, Brad Keselowski commented on NASCAR needing to hand out more penalties to gain control of the garage. T.J. explains how his driver is still dealing with the repercussions of their penalty earlier in the year and the table debates the need for stricter officiating.
In Reaction Theatre, fans voice their opinions about Ross Chastain never lifting and Kevin Harvick making it back to Victory Lane. Later, hear the gang’s thoughts on expanding the charter system and what needs to happen for the Cup Series to return to a 43 car field.
