Males face certain stigmas. They're expected to be the “strong male” and society tells us men are not supposed to get depressed, men don't seek help, and men don't need therapy. Men are human and deserve the same love, respect, sense of security and happiness which women deserve.
It is not always the case...
Ryan experienced the typical honeymoon stage with lavish compliments and thoughtful gifts. There was a constant stream of communication thru text messages, phone calls, emails and social media. Ryan rearranged his life to accommodate the 6 hour time difference between their locations to make sure the communication met the expected demand.
The relationship continued to progress. They moved in together. During a road trip, she shared a story with Ryan that would create a great moment of pause for him. He looked over his shoulder at her and wonder, why? Why are you finding happiness in this horrific event which you caused?
Ryan shares his vulnerability and feelings of inadequacy through this ordeal. We discuss situations which were red flags. Ryan's courage comes from his desire to help other male victims recognize the behaviors, the isolation, the constant put-downs, amongst many other demeaning and destructive acts.
His story is inspirational. Wait until you see how he utilized the resources available to succeed in where he is in his life today. It is remarkable! I can't wait to share this story and we both know it will resonate with others.
Remember, you are stronger than you think and Ryan is a perfect example of this!
