Episode 76: Annette Bening - "The American President" (1995)

While Annette Bening is undoubtedly the shining star of "The American President" (and unfairly looked over for a Best Actress Oscar nomination, in our humble opinions), she's our BSA this week because, well, we make the rules around here. Not to say the supporting cast isn't stacked, with Martin Sheen, Michael J Fox, Samantha Mathis, Wendie Malick, "Little Giants" star Shawna Waldron, and one of our favorite queens to queen out on, Anna Deveare Smith. Michael Douglas certainly gets our vote as President Andy and we have much to say about the lyrical genius of Aaron Sorkin. But we're completely captivated by Sydney Ellen Wade, whether at her giddiest ("What do I do?"), her angriest (that drawer acting!) or her sexiest(honking the mattress). We'd navigate Dupont Circle any day for Bening's pitch perfect performance in what is, well, a pitch perfect 90's movie.
