Multi-instrumentalist Arttu Tolonen showed up in time for the band’s second album and in 2012, Chuck Eddy cited the act as being the #1 Country band in the world in the January issue of Nashville Scene. He had previously named their sophomore effort, “Wildlike Wonder,” as the 9th best release of 2011 in the Village Voice’s annual Pazz & Jop poll.
In the interim, the band settled into the configuration of Salla Day, Timo Vikkula, Arttu Tolonen and Affe Forsman. Them Bird Things geared up to release their third album, “Pachyderm Nightmares,” that autumn. This album is to be a departure from their previous two albums in that the songwriting is self-penned.
